Officer Descriptions
See below for high-level descriptions of the SWE-KC officer positions. Officers are elected positions. Elections start in April each year, and terms for each position are only one year. Please contact us if you are interested in running for an officer position. For more information, see our officer role descriptions and our organizational structure on the leadership page.
- President
- Be the face of SWE-KC and represent the section at various events
- Plan and lead the monthly Executive Council meetings
- Lead the section to develop goals for the year, and assist the other officers and committee chairs as needed.
- Time Commitment: ~15-20 hrs/month
- Vice President
- Provide oversight and assistance as needed to the Events & Membership Chairs
- Lead other activities as assigned by the President
- Time Commitment: ~5-10 hrs/month
- Treasurer
- Manage the SWE-KC bank accounts
- Complete the end of year financial report
- Authorize reimbursements as needed
- Provide oversight and assistance as needed to the Outreach and IGED Chairs
- Time Commitment: ~10-15 hrs/month
- Secretary
- Manage the SWE-KC email account
- Send out email blasts to advertise section activities no more than twice per month
- Take minutes at the monthly Executive Council meetings
- Provide oversight and assistance as needed to the Communications Committee
- Time Commitment: ~10-15 hrs/month
- Section Representative
- Serve as the liaison between the Region and the SWE-KC section
- Complete quarterly section reports to the region
- Provide oversight and assistance as needed to the Awards Committee
- Time Commitment: ~5-10 hrs/month
