PRESIDENT

Suzie Carpenter
Suzie is a project manager at Black & Veatch. She has twenty years of experience in the water and wastewater industry. Suzie is a professional engineer licensed in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and Arkansas. Suzie has been a member of the KC SWE Chapter for seven years and has served as the Vice President, Events Committee Chair, and a member of the events committee.
Suzie resides in Kansas City, MO with her son and their two dogs. Her hobbies include travel, running, scrapbooking, and cheering for her son in his activities.

VICE PRESIDENT

Chelsea Pfaffly
Chelsea is a Civil Engineer-in-Training for Wilson & Company Inc., Engineers and Architects in Kansas City, where she has worked on a variety of roadway and stormwater projects. Chelsea graduated from University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. While at UMKC she was involved in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Undergraduate Research, School of Computing and Engineering (SCE) Student Ambassadors, and Chi Epsilon Honor Society. Chelsea held officer positions throughout her time in college, including SWE-UMKC President FY17 and Secretary FY16.
Since graduating, Chelsea has remain involved in SWE. Chelsea enjoys participating in outreach to inspire and encourage K-12 students to pursue engineering degrees. Chelsea is currently the Outreach Chair and Interim Vice President for FY20 in SWE’s Kansas City Section. As Outreach Chair, she organizes K-12 outreach events, communicates with local SWENext chapters, and participates in other organizations outreach events. Outside of SWE, Chelsea is a Board of Director for the UMKC SCE Alumni Association.

Kristin Fritchman
Kristin Fritchman is a project manager in the with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. in Kansas City. She began her career as an air quality permit writer at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and has worked in environmental consulting since 2012. She has worked on air quality permitting, dispersion modeling, and compliance projects in the coal mining, power, and chemical industries. Kristin holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering from the University of Missouri and is a registered professional engineer in Kansas.
Outside of work, Kristin is an active member of SWE, and has participated in IGED events for 5 years. She served on the planning committee for WE KC in 2019. She is also the Young Professionals chair for the Air & Waste Management Association – Midwest Section. Kristin is the mother of two young girls and strongly believes in SWE’s mission to empower women. When she has the time, she also enjoys playing board games, reading, crocheting, and spending time outside.

Alita Joseph
Alita Joseph works as a product engineer at Honeywell FM&T. In her current role, she works with suppliers and design agencies to support the development, qualification, and steady-state production of mechanical components. Alita graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. She has stayed engaged with her alma mater as a member of KU Engineering's Recent Graduate Advisory Board, and is an active SELF Engineering Leadership Fellowship alumni. Alita has been involved with SWE in the past year by serving on both iGED Junior and Senior committees as a social media coordinator and a discipline fair coordinator. In her spare time, Alita enjoys hanging out with her Little through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, practicing yoga, going to concerts, and trying out new recipes.
