Mentors

Mentor Registration Link (closed)

We are looking for STEM professionals to mentor students throughout the day and help out with activities! Mentors will be matched with 2-3 students to explore the day’s engineering activities, answer questions about what it is like to be an engineer, and inspire the students to learn more about STEM! We thank you in advance for your efforts in inspiring the next generation of engineers!

  • Note: Because we have reached capacity so quickly in the past, this year we are limiting registration to 7th and 8th grade students only. We will open it up to 6th grade students if places remain available after September 26th.
  • Are you interested in learning about and engaging with engineering throughout the year? Take a look at:

Abby Morris is currently the Quality Assurance Manager at the GM Wentzville Assembly Plant, where she brings over 14 years of diverse experience at General Motors, having served in various roles spanning from Process Engineering and Maintenance to Quality Engineering and now Quality Assurance. Her journey reflects a deep commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in the heart of automotive manufacturing.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology and a Master’s in Lean Manufacturing Operations Management from Kettering University — blending technical expertise with strategic leadership.

Abby’s impact extends far beyond the assembly plant and out into the community. She currently leads the Wentzville chapter of Get WISE — Women in Science & Engineering — a program very similar to IGED JR where she leads initiatives to spark interest in STEM among 6th-grade girls from local St. Charles County middle schools. She also works with the local elementary schools STEAM camps every summer, coordinating GM employees to volunteer their time with local students in an automotive enginering inspired STEAM activity. Through these community outreach initiatives, she is helping pave the way for the next generation of women in science and engineering.

Outside of her professional life, Abby enjoys a wide variety of extracurricular activities. She’s a worship leader at her church, an advisor to the Zeta Tau Alpha chapter at UMSL, and finds joy in traveling, reading, going to Brodway shows all over the country, and — most of all — in being present for her family. She and her husband, Jeremy, a fellow engineer and S&T alum, have been happily married for over 14 years, and they are the proud parents of their vibrant daughter, Annabelle, who keeps them busy with hockey, gymnastics, and ballet.

Abby tries to be an example of how you can be a career-driven female leader while still showing up with intention as a devoted wife and mother and enjoying life along the way. She continues to remind those around her that leadership isn’t just about the title you hold — it’s about the lives you touch, the barriers you break, and the legacy you leave.
