Elected Positions
Below are high-level descriptions of the SWE-KC officer positions. More detailed role profiles are linked. Officers are elected positions. Elections start in March of each year, voting occurs in May, and each one-year term begins July 1st.
President
- Be the face of SWE-KC and represent the section at various events
- Plan and lead the monthly Executive Council meetings
- Lead the section to develop goals for the year, and assist the other officers and committee chairs as needed.
- Time Commitment: ~10-15 hrs/month (more time near beginning and end of term)
Vice President
- Provide oversight and assistance as needed 1-2 committee chair persons
- Plan the mid-year meeting and team development event, in coordination with the President
- Lead other activities as assigned by the President
- Time Commitment: ~5-10 hrs/month
Treasurer
- Manage the SWE-KC bank accounts
- File e-postcard to the IRS by November 15th of each year
- Complete the end of year financial report
- Authorize reimbursements as needed
- Provide oversight and assistance as needed to 1-2 committee chair persons
- Time Commitment: ~10-15 hrs/month
Secretary
- Manage the SWE-KC email account
- Manage the SWE-KC website
- Send out email blasts to advertise section activities no more than twice per month
- Generate annual newsletter emails
- Design specialty email blasts for events such as WE-KC
- Provide oversight and assistance as needed to the Communications Committee
- Take minutes at the monthly Executive Council meetings
- Time Commitment: ~10-15 hrs/month
